Once your Lice Technician has completed a Organic lice treatment procedure for lice removed and all of the unwanted lice from each persons hair is gone. Then your Lice Technician will return after a waiting period within 6 to 9 days (free return check-up) to check for any possible lice reinfestation.
During this time the client will 'Self Care", by following a few simple procedures.
How To Properly Disinfect Your Home From Lice:
1. Wash all bedding, sheets, pillowcases, etc. with hot water and dry at a high heat, which comes to 135 degrees F., clothing, hats, scarves, stuffed toys, cloth items etc. should be washed and dried using high heat.
2. Using boiling water, clean all hair brushes and combs then soak them in the hot water for a few minutes. Alcohol may be used to clean
The life cycle of lice is short and fast. For this reason we suggest periodic lice checks for children's hair, at least every 3 to 4 days. Doing this, directly upon their arrival from school, can further aid in eliminating any possible spread or re-spread of lice into the home.
Monitoring school lice outbreaks or lice information, is good lice preventative care. Statistics show it is mostly prescho

It is important to know that lice must have their human blood meal within 24 hours. If they do not feed, as well as have the host warmth, the lice will die within one day. Lice are discovered when itching on the head, or scalp, occurs or noticing small red lice bite marks.
Other lice myths and common lice questions our clients and families have asked us are, "Can lice jump, can lice fly, and when off the head can lice crawl fast." - The answer is "No" to all three questions.
Lice are slow moving crawlers when off the scalp and hair, lice cannot run fast, lice cannot jump, and lice cannot fly.
Sometimes our clients ask "How are lice spread?" Lice can be spread anywhere people come together or use the same facility. If a place of lice infection can be identified, then future precautions can be made to not become lice reinfested. Some of the most common places that lice can infect people are homes, schools, gyms, restaurants, play grounds, churchs, doctors offices, movie theaters, and swimming pools are the most common places people get infested with head lice.
Some clients often ask, "Can lice hold their breath underwater?" - The answer is yes, lice can hold their breath for up to 8 to 9 hours in water by forming a air bubble around their head. This makes it possible for lice to survive in places like public swimming pools, washing machines, bathtub and shower time, or hot tubs.
Other questions we receive are "Will mayonnaise kill lice, if I bleach my hair will it kill lice, if I color my hair will it get rid of lice, and will tea tree oil help kill lice?" - The answer is "No" to all four questions. Mayonnaise does not kill lice because it is not able to suffocate the bug since lice are able to hold their breath for up to 8 to 9 hours by creating an air bubble around their head. However the oil in mayonnaise does help loosen up the nits, lice eggs, that are glued to the hair follicle. And with the right lice and nit comb, and a good technique, mayonnaise could be a possible option in removing the lice and nits. But again mayonnaise does not kill or suffocate lice or nits. When it comes to bleaching or coloring the hair, it will have no effect on the lice bug because there are no lice pesticides, insecticide or organic lice killing ingredients in the hair coloring products. For tea tree oil, it can be a good lice deterrent after lice treatment is complete and there are no more bugs left in the hair. But if tea tree oil is used during lice infected stage, the bugs will not leave because they have already decided that you are a habitable host for their lice offspring.
Vacuuming is a good way to self care. Vacuuming just prior to the visit from your Olympia Lice Care lice technician and then every 3 to 4 days after the visit, for at least 9 days is a good self care technique. At home, you will need to vacuum couches, chairs, mattresses, rugs, floors and especially places where an infected person spends a lotoftheir time. The car which an infected person has ridden in recently, should be vacuumed as well.
Olympia Lice Care Re-infection Policy: Sometimes When the lice technician returns to your home, they may find lice during their "Return Checkup". There are only a few possible types of re-infection. A person may be reinfected from a new source, the home was not properly disinfected and cleaned, or reinfection happened back from the main source. It has been our experience, that if lice recently born are discovered, it is usually that an egg was left behind after the Treatment Procedure. If more mature lice are discovered it usually means a reinfection from an new source. A new source could be from outside the home, or even in the home, depending on, if the "Self Care" procedures, have not been followed by the client.
Should lice be discovered upon the Olympia Technicians "Return Checkup", then a determination of a free redo of the Olympia Organic Treatment Procedure, will be determined on a case by case basis, using the above mentioned protocols.
